In June 2011, the Institute's Coastal Engineering students participated in a five-day fieldwork exercise on the coast of the Netherlands. The fieldwork focused on swimmer safety around the mega sand nourishment that was being completed between Hoek van Holland and Kijkduin at the time. It was funded by the Building with Nature programme.
